The Driving Doctor® is the brainchild of world-renowned and multi-award-winning safe driving expert Paul Ripley and his team. The Driving Doctor® driver behaviour software product is the culmination of four decades of Paul’s unparalleled experience in driver safety.
Laurence began his career with PwC in audit and consulting before joining a client as Financial Director. In 1993, he joined Sytner where as CEO, he led the team that grew the company from a single BMW dealership in Nottingham to a luxury car group when, in 1997, it listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Sytner was bought by US-based Penske Group in 2002 and Laurence joined the main board before becoming Sytner's non-executive Chairman. He remains on the board of Sytner which is now the largest automotive retailer in the UK. He is also Chairman of Catapult Ventures, Aston Barclay Vehicle Remarketing and SuperBike Factory.
He holds a BA from Durham University and is a chartered accountant.
Warrick has over 28 years in highly competitive, customer-focused industries such as Professional Sport, Senior Call Centre Management, Retail Operations and Business Development. He is a resourceful and customer-focused business professional and brings a powerful combination of strategic thinking together with practical hands-on operational delivery.
Director of Insurance
Jon has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry joining Aviva from college, where he spent 15 years in various roles including Operations, Marketing, Product and E-commerce. Jon was Operations Director with the start-up www.its4me.co.uk, a fully online motor insurance broker, which was sold to Swinton Insurance seven years later. Jon then became E-commerce Director for Swinton, the UK's largest high street insurance broker, reporting to the board. Jon works with a significant list of high profile clients (RAC, Staysure, Marmalade, USwitch etc.) and plays an integral role in The Driving Doctor. Jon is qualified to FCII level with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Finance and Administration Director
Carole has many years of finance, administration and motor sport/leisure/tuition industry experience. She was previously Finance Director for Paul Ripley Driving Courses and Promosport businesses and manages the accounts and administration team for the company.
John has 30 years of management experience with blue chip sports and luxury car manufacturers, importers and retailers and was a director of a successful motor racing team. He holds diplomas in business and finance, is a qualified pilot and has worked in the motor industry in both the UK and Asia. Experienced in sales, marketing, distribution, dealer development, media and customer relationship management.
Media and PR Manager
Chris has been actively working in the automotive media for 40 years. His career experience includes time at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the UK’s leading motor industry trade body, and has operated as an independent PR consultant working for a variety of high profile companies including General Electric, DuPont, Robert Bosch, the Tyre Industry Council (now TyreSafe), Ferrari North Europe and Tesla. Chris is a founding member of the Motor Industry Public Affairs Association, works closely with the Guild of Motoring Writers and has supported HRH Prince Michael of Kent in the area of road safety.
Customer Relationship Manager
CJ has many years of experience in the customer care sector working in the telecoms and service delivery industries. She has been with The Driving Doctor team since the start of the business and plays an essential role in managing our customers’ requirements and expectations. She acts as The Driving Doctor’s liaison officer and also oversees our social media. CJ is also our GDPR compliance officer who is certified for this role through her GDPR accreditations and qualifications.
Senior Content Editor
Peter has been writing about cars and driving for three decades. A life-long motorsport enthusiast and competitor from the age of 13, he started his career in motoring journalism at Fast Lane magazine where he first encountered Paul Ripley Driving Courses. Seven years later, he joined The Daily Telegraph and as Motoring Editor, led the internationally renowned broadsheet’s Saturday Motoring section from 1996-2008. He subsequently launched and edited the new AA Magazine and now works for a range of organisations and publications including Goodwood magazine. Peter has long been an advocate of driver behaviour and safety improvement and we are pleased to be able to benefit from his communication and editing skills to maximise the effectiveness of our messages.
Senior Content Provider
David has worked with Paul Ripley for almost 40 years, having been chief instructor for Paul Ripley Driving Courses. He qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) in 1978 and has remained a top-grade fleet driver trainer. He specialises in Occupational Road Risk, advising companies and re-training drivers using cognitive behaviour coaching techniques to improve safety and performance. David advises The Driving Doctor on changes in road traffic law and driver training techniques. The company is delighted to have such vast expertise, experience and passion for driver safety on the team, forging new thinking and coaching ideals to enhance The Driving Doctor’s products and results.
